THE NEW CHANCERY
of the DIOCESE OF IDAHO
This 20,000-square-foot administrative building for the Diocese of Idaho represents a thoughtful synthesis of contemporary architectural expression and contextual sensitivity. The design responds to its urban setting while reflecting architectural motifs from Boise's nearby cathedral, creating a dialogue between modern construction and sacred tradition. Clean lines and simplified forms honor the clarity of contemporary design while proportions, materials, and rhythmic patterns echo the ecclesiastical architecture that anchors the surrounding neighborhood.
This conceptual design formed the basis for the full project, now being carried to completion by another architect serving as architect-of-record. The building, scheduled for completion in 2026, demonstrates that institutional architecture can be both of its time and respectful of its context. The chancery stands as administrative home for diocesan work—neither copying historical precedent nor ignoring it, but instead establishing a contemporary presence that acknowledges its institutional and architectural setting with dignity and restraint.
